Police have arrested two men in the stabbing of a 73-year-old passenger who was attacked aboard an Upper West Side bus this month after stepping in to defend a pregnant woman, authorities say.

Jaiden Marrero, 24, and Donzell Mitchell, 19, both of the Bronx, were taken into custody on Thursday, June 25, and each charged with two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the NYPD.The incident happened on Friday, June 5, at approximately 6:30 p.m. near Broadway and West 92nd Street. According to police, the two men had been yelling at a pregnant woman with a baby carriage to move out of their way aboard an M104 bus. The 73-year-old victim stepped in and asked them not to be disrespectful, at which point one of the men told him to mind his business and the pair began striking him in the head and torso with closed fists. During the attack, the victim was stabbed in the left shoulder. He was taken by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.
