New Happenings for Fall

Last modified on July 30th, 2018

It’s crazy to think Fall is pretty much officially here (even if it still hits 90 degrees a few more times). Leaves are falling a bit more than before, all the schools are back in session, wardrobes are shifting… and the pumpkin spice latte has made it’s debut!

I’ve looked around, and the  Upper West Side has a bit to boast during the new season: a new bar, (one of the highest rated) pumpkin spice lattes, festivals, fall desserts, and more! Here’s a little roundup of a few outings to get you happily launched into the new season.

Emack and Bolio’s Ice Cream: Some of the best ice cream in New York City. 389 Amsterdam Ave, grab some Pumpkin Pie ice cream while it’s still hot out. A latte may just make you sweat a little more than you’d like, so stay cool with a bunch of different flavors (they have special micro brew sodas, homemade fudge, smoothies, and more!). Bring a date, bring the fam this place will not disappoint. www.emackandbolios.com

Irving Farm Coffee Roasters: Highest rated coffee house on the UWS (emphasis on the lattes!) according to Four Square. Dirty chais and Mexican brownies are other wins and must-tries. Located at 224 W 79th St. Beware, no wifi… which means you may get a seat!

Maybe not a fall-ish event, but it’s something you don’t want to miss happening this Fall! The New York Film Festival is being hosted by the Lincoln Center Film Society – the 53rd annual edition of this highbrow fest. The Walk world premieres opening night; Carol, Bridge of Spies, The Assassin (to name a few!) in between, and Miles Ahead (Don Cheadle) closes the festival out.  September 25- October 11 and tickets $20-25. Visit www.filnlinc.com for more!

Whole Foods Beer on Tap: When I can find a WF with a bar, it’s definitely like hitting the jackpot. Not only am I surrounded by all the cleanest, yummiest food possible, I now can enjoy local crafted beer and wine and talk with the WF bartender about its flavors and history (because WF always has the best employees that know everything about all their products… well, they try to!). At this location the pumpkin pie beer cocktail is a must-try this season! Pumpkin + cider + milk stout = win! Don’t believe me, head over to 10 Columbus Circle and try it for yourself.

Manhattan Brew & Vine: A new wine and craft beer bar just opened its doors for business at 109th and Columbus Ave.  The lounge will have nightly DJs and brags its high end clientele (Ne-Yo, Fat Joe, plus other R&B/hip-hop artists have been said to be seen there opening night). No website yet, but I hear their chef is quite good, and customer service is great – so go check it out and see what the fuss is about!

Early fall and be so exciting with all the business of everyone refocusing after a summer of vacationing – hopefully these few treats and upcoming events is just what you need to help transition into the best season of the year!
