Community, Advocacy, and Family Fun Come Together at This Can’t-Miss Event
On Sunday, June 1st, West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) invites New Yorkers of all ages to its fourth annual block party, WSCAH ROCKS THE BLOCK, a free, family-friendly event that celebrates the power of community.
From 12 pm to 4 pm, 86th Street between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive will be transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, advocacy, and action. Attendees will roll up their sleeves to pack healthy groceries for families across NYC, raise their voices in support of policies that promote food equity, and enjoy music, arts and crafts, and more.
One of the day’s highlights will be live readings from the winners of WSCAH’s 2025 Writing Against Hunger contest — a powerful initiative that invites young people to reflect on the ongoing hunger crisis in the United States today.
“This block party is more than just a celebration — it’s a chance for the community to come together and be part of the solution,” said Greg Silverman, CEO of WSCAH. “Everyone has a role to play in building a city where all New Yorkers have access to healthy food.”
Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to WSCAH’s mission, the block party is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors, make a difference, and have some fun.
