Woman Riding Scooter Killed in Upper West Side Crash

A 49-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after the scooter she was riding was struck by a car on the Upper West Side.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a collision at Amsterdam Avenue and West 60th Street at around 10:35 a.m., an NYPD officer told ILTUWS. A preliminary investigation determined the woman was traveling northbound on Amsterdam Avenue on a two-wheeled device when a 34-year-old man driving westbound on West 60th Street collided with her.

EMS took the woman to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained on scene. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Police haven’t released the woman’s name.
