The sun is starting to shine on the Upper West Side. This is my favorite time of year, because it marks the longest stretch until next winter. Sometimes the anticipation of warm weather is just as sweet as the rising temperatures themselves. Here’s what I’m looking forward to the most this spring on the Upper West Side.
Central Park
From lazy Sunday afternoons at The Sheep Meadow, to contemplative walks around the reservoir and through the Ramble, to fast-paced bike rides. A daily break in Central Park is essential to a New Yorker’s sanity, and actually enjoyable come spring time.

The Boat Basin
The Boat Basin is located in Riverside Park at 79th Street. A popular after-work destination, here you can enjoy a scrumptious burger and strong frozen cocktails while admiring calming views of the Hudson River. Feel free to bring your dog!

Outdoor Drinks on Amsterdam Ave
While high commercial rents have changed which bars exist along this strip of delight, one thing that doesn’t change is the bustling outdoor drink scene as the weather gets nicer. You can find many places between about 79th and 84th Streets to have yourself a beer and people watch, or actually talk to the person you’re there with.
