Village Square Pizza – which, as the name suggests, specializes in square pies and slices – has leased the space at 2479 Broadway between 92nd and 93rd streets (h/t @Tradedny).

The storefront was previously home to Perfecto Pizza, which owner Yianni Berbeis closed late last year (along with Telio next door) after a 30-year-run due to a massive rent hike.

With the help of Jeremy Wladis of The Restaurant Group, Telio was recreated as Telio Greek Taverna and has moved into the Good Enough To Eat space at 520 Columbus Avenue (at West 85th Street).

Village Square Pizza – which can also be found on the Upper East Side and in the East Village, West Village and Midtown – proclaims fresh ingredients and a “family recipe that’s been used for generations.”

In 2022, Conde Nast Traveler named Village Square Pizza one of the 25 Best Places for Pizza in New York City, noting their pizza “checks every box: savory, at times spicy, crispy, and simply delicious.” In addition to their classic and specialty slices, pies, and “cup-and-char pepperoni, which collect little pools of greasy flavor,” VSP also offers a vegan bruschetta, a vegan square, and a vegan eggplant square. The Infatuation and Gotham Mag have also lauded Village Square Pizza as one of the best places to grab a slice.

We’ve contacted Village Square Pizza for more information and a target opening date. We’ll update this article once we learn more.

This news comes just a few days after we announced that a popular UWS pizza place would be expanding with a second location in the neighborhood.
