The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual for committing an assault in Riverside Park earlier this month.
The incident took place on Monday, June 6 at about 8:10pm near 79th and Riverside Drive, when a 29-year-old male NYC Parks Department employee was approached by an unidentified individual (depicted above) “who punched him in the face before fleeing on a scooter,” police say.

Video shows the suspect and Parks employee trading blows; it’s unclear at what point during the altercation the person taking the video began recording.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter. All calls are strictly confidential.
They weren’t just Park employees, they were NYC Parks Dept law enforcement.
Pretty sure they have the power to make arrests. Why didn’t they? Were they worried about upsetting the liberal-left “Woke” crowd and being called “racists”?
“pretty sure”? Okay, say they are NYC Parks cops, and they have guns, do you want them/him shooting — threatening gun fire — in RSP to stop the guy escaping on a scooter?
And um, you’ve been punched and the guy is zipping away on a scooter: How do you make an arrest?
You could may be call someone to be on the lookout for the guy/scooter. That’s if you could see.
After he punched one of the Parks cops in the face, they should have told him right there, put your hands behind your back, you’re being arrested, and cuffed him. If he refused they should have forced him to comply, wrestling him to the ground if necessary. There were 2 of them on the scene.

…and he didn’t just punch the Parks cop in the face and zip away as you say.
He hung around for awhile before getting on his scooter. He even took time to unlock the lock on it before leaving, or whatever it was that he did before riding away, while they just stood there and watched him. Look at the video again.

Yeah, now I see that he didn’t zip away, but he was clearly dangerous, and fighting him to the ground would have added to the danger, as would draw guns.
What morons like this don’t realize is that basic cameras (security, still, video, smartphone, body) have vastly improved in the last 5-8 years. So there will (as we can confirm) be clear images of him on many storage devices attached to or contained in all sorts of cameras.
Some of these images (not here) will show the exact model of scooter, they will be clear without the massive compression artifacts that make this video look like it was shot with an early 1990s budget home video camera.
He will be found, unless he’s 200 miles away, legitimately ID’d, and formally arrested.

Was it a legal e-scooter?
Or was it an utterly illegal gasoline scooter without plates and insurance.

In fact, your comment affirms that you are part of the problem; that’s whether or not you drive an e-scooter or use an illegal gasoline scooter.
