A smoke shop at 2571 Broadway between 96th and 97th streets – 96 Tabacco Shop – has already been robbed three times this year, according to police reports.

The first incident took place on Monday, Jan. 30 at about 3:30 p.m., when a suspect walked in and jumped over a counter in an attempt to grab a bag of merchandise. When an employee tried to stop him, the suspect shoved the employee and took about $200 worth of product. He then fled south on Broadway by foot.
The second robbery occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at about 11:15 a.m. A suspect walked in and started a conversation with an employee. He then kicked open a security gate to an area behind the counter and took about $600 worth of merchandise. The suspect then ran off in an unknown direction.
The most recent (and largest) robbery took place on Monday, March 6 at about 9:30 a.m., when a man walked in, went behind the counter and took about $1,565 worth of product from a display case. He fled south towards West 96th Street.
Police have released photos of the multiple suspects wanted for these crimes.

If they sell “smoke” that’s not legal for them to sell they’re dealing in cash.
