The US Pole Dance Competition will be happening on April 12th and 13th at Symphony Space! What was once considered a shady evening attraction has become a mainstream sport. Both men and women will be competing for various cash prizes, and the event will be divided into three skill levels: novice, amateur and professional.
The competition will feature the best pole dancers in the country. And this includes lots of regular folks with day jobs who took an early interest in the rapidly growing sport.

The USPDF hand selects competitors who submit their videos. They score applicants based on their technique, style and flexibility. So I wouldn’t expect to see anyone falling off the pole.
The organization had their first championship in 2009, and the sport has continued to grow in popularity since then.

Pole dancing formerly was associated primarily with gentleman’s clubs. The USPDF has led the way in helping eradicate that stereotype through education and inspiration. We showcase pole dancing in a very positive manner and focus on safety, technique and the encouragement of physical strength and artistic expression.” – USPDF Founder and President Wendy Traskos
