On Christmas Day, Upper West Sider Mike Matthews and his girlfriend Amy handed out 25 “zebra bags” filled with gifts to MTA workers on the platforms of the 110th and 96th Street stations on Broadway (and to some bus drivers as well).
The zebra stripes represent the black and white striped boards located in every subway station. Train conductors are required to point to them to prove they’re paying attention …
Thanks to these very thoughtful Upper West Siders – and to the MTA employees working through this very difficult year!
Sweet gesture. I also noticed that of the four people in the first photo, only two are wearing masks properly. Two are not, including the MTA conductor. This is not the way to fight a pandemic, people!
So nice! Thank you for doing that.
Wonderful to do. How thoughtful and kind, Amy & Mike.
Mike and Amy, you are the best of New York. Proud of you!
I think this is wonderful, but can’t help pointing out that there are people without masks when it is mandated to wear them in the subways! And no one is enforcing this very dangerous practice!!!
Unbelievable. MTA thieves do not deserve your generosity. They are already ripping off the public EVERY chance they get. You have a big heart but please do not forget to use your brains. Your gifts would be better served given to people less fortunate and in greater need. Not to people who take advantage of the system to collect obscene amounts of money in overtime! The MTA criminals are the primary reason the MTA is Continually Under Budget Every Year (not just 2020 and Covid 19). You can look forward to your fares going up yet AGAIN so the MTA Clowns can get raises and laugh all of the way to the bank with your hard earned money!
You need to look at what you are thankful for and spend less time on your negative tendencies.
100%
Amy & Mike, you Rock!!
