Upper West Side Woman Celebrates 108th Birthday

Sylvia Levine turned 108 on Monday, and the team at Atria Senior Living (333 West 86th Street), where she’s lived since 2018, threw her a much-deserved birthday bash.

The hour-long celebration included food, champagne and cake, and Levine’s family stayed after the event to have dinner with her.

“The media room was packed,” a building representative told ILTUWS. “We actually had several residents and staff standing as the chairs were occupied!”

We were told Levine is always friendly with fellow residents and staff members, so the large turnout was expected.

She says one of her secrets to living a long life has been to ‘look up and never look down,’ and she cites one of her most cherished accomplishments in her 108 years as having the best daughter. Levine and her daughter go out to restaurants and museums together almost every week.

At Atria West 86, Sylvia can be found having dinner with her best friend Helen (where she frequently enjoys a double portion of coffee or ice cream), or at the building’s happy hour, singing along with the other residents.
