Nearly four months after it shut its doors for a top-to-bottom remodel, one of the Upper West Side’s busiest grocery stores is about to welcome shoppers back. And it’s not making anyone wait much longer.

The Trader Joe’s at 72nd and Broadway will reopen on Saturday, September 12 at 8 a.m., a company spokesperson confirmed to ILTUWS.“Trader Joe’s Crew Members are ready to welcome customers back to their neighborhood store,” the spokesperson said.
The reopening date and time are also posted on the location page.
The store at 2073 Broadway closed on May 17 for what the company described at the time as a renovation expected to take several months. When we asked back in the spring what the work would involve, a spokesperson told us the store would be “updating a lot, including refrigeration and vertical transportation,” with the goal of improving the in-store experience for both customers and Crew Members. Employees were temporarily reassigned to nearby locations while the store was closed.
For anyone who’s been trekking up to 93rd and Columbus or making do with Fairway and Morton Williams since May, the detour ends this weekend. We’d expect a line.
