The West 70th Street storefront that longtime neighbors knew as Café Mozart is brewing coffee again. Croissant et Café has opened at 154 West 70th Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, with a French-leaning menu and one luxurious curveball on the side: Persian ice cream.

Per Lincoln Square BID, the newcomer specializes in croissants and focaccia alongside coffee and espresso drinks, with the Persian ice cream on hand for anyone chasing something a little more indulgent. Known as bastani, the Persian version runs richer and chewier than the American scoop — typically saffron-scented, laced with rosewater, and studded with pistachios, sometimes with shards of frozen cream folded in for a taffy-like pull.Croissant et Café is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed Sundays, with plans to expand to seven-day service by September.
Reviews are positive so far, with nine people giving it 5 stars on Google.
