Thai Market, the neighborhood restaurant located at the base of 201 West 107th Street, will not be reopening at its current location following December’s devastating fire. The restaurant first opened in 2007.

The update was shared in a message posted on the restaurant’s website, where the team cited building-related circumstances beyond their control (thanks to Tony D. for the tip).

“With heavy hearts, we share that Thai Market will not be reopening at our current location due to building circumstances that is beyond our control,” the statement reads. “Thai Market has always been more than a restaurant — it has been a place of friendship, memories, and community.”

The message also thanked customers for their support over the years and in the aftermath of the fire, adding that while the future remains uncertain, the team will “always cherish the memories and gratitude from this incredible community.”

As ILTUWS previously reported, the fire caused significant structural damage to the six-story building at the corner of West 107th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, displacing numerous residents and prompting a full vacate order. Thai Market has been closed since the incident.

A fundraiser launched after the fire aimed to support both the restaurant’s rebuilding efforts and its staff, many of whom were left without work.

It is unclear whether Thai Market plans to reopen at a different location.
