A 16-year-old boy was slashed inside an upscale Upper West Side apartment building late Wednesday.
Police say they received a call at about 10:45 p.m. and arrived at 400 West 61st Street — part of the Waterline Square complex, where current rents for one-bedroom apartments range from about $8,000 to $11,000—to find him with slash wounds on his back and left shoulder.

Four suspects, also teens, are wanted for the incident. Reports indicate they fled by foot after the assault.
Police say EMS transported the victim to an area hospital in stable condition.
Some reports say the slashing took place in the building lobby, while others indicate it happened in the stairwell.
“Sources familiar with the investigation report that the teen was inside the stairwell hanging out with a female when four perpetrators burst inside and chased the boy into the lobby, where they went on the bloody attack,” AMNY reports.
“I think this is horrible. It’s crazy to think this stuff is happening so close to home for me,” one building resident told ABC 7. “Yeah, it’s crazy to see this stuff on the sidewalk of my building. Generally living in this building is a great experience, that’s why it’s even more surprising that something like this would happen so close.”

Vote wisely, New York City.
Crankypants,
You mean vote for the Republican Adams?
Vote for Mamdani. I don’t live there anymore so I don’t really care and I think it would be fun to see what happens.

I assume there was door person, what did he/she report?
What does lobby security video show?
Except that perhaps there was building staff in the lobby, I don’t particularly see what citing the high rents has to do with anything.
I used to live in that building. It’s a social experiment gone wrong. I can guarantee you that the victim and the suspect were not paying market rate for their apartments. There are many “section 8” recipients in that world-class building, paying just a few hundred dollars for 2+ bed units. They treat the common areas like garbage, the police are there regularly due to fights, the smell of marijuana is constant, they are loud, dirty, rude, and unneighborly. It is an abomination, and I am glad I got out of there the moment my lease expired. To anyone thinking of living at Waterline Square, please — do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. It is simply not worth it!
