Signage has already been installed at 2850 Broadway—between West 110th and 111th streets, the former home of Mel’s Burger Bar—for Raising Cane’s, the fast-food chicken finger chain that has opened over 800 locations since launching in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996.

However, pending city approval, the brand—known for featuring championship athletes after a win in its marketing—is also opening a location at 2067 Broadway, between West 71st and 72nd streets. That location was most recently home to Freshly Bagel, which lasted less than a year in this highly trafficked area.
Before Freshly Bagel, the space was home to Gigi Cafe, which people were sad to see go.

“Raising Cane’s first Upper West Side Restaurant is excited to open on September 4th offering 20 lucky customers Free Canes for a Year, community givebacks, and more on grand opening day,” said a Raising Cane representative. “As part of Raising Cane’s commitment to the communities it serves, the new Restaurant will present a $1,000 check to West Harlem Arts Alliance and engage with local schools, sports teams, and non-profit organizations through fundraising opportunities and sponsorships on an ongoing basis.” This opening will mark Raising Cane’s fifth Manhattan location.

Currently, 2067 Broadway has no signage, and no serious work has started. The Raising Cane’s representative told us, “Pending city approval, Raising Cane’s is slated to bring our ONE LOVE® – Craveable Chicken Finger Meals – to NYC’s Upper West Side at 2067 Broadway in 2026.” This would place Cane’s along the same stretch as Duane Reade and Trader Joe’s.
Raising Cane’s keeps it simple—the menu is all about chicken tenders. You can choose from a few combos with different numbers of tenders, plus sides like crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and Cane’s Sauce. They also offer a chicken tender sandwich.
The first Raising Cane’s in New York City opened in Times Square in June 2023. It’s referred to as their global flagship restaurant.

Any idea as to Raising Cane’s menu and prices? I’m amazed that a lot of these new “we only offer a small part of the chicken” chains charge an exorbitant amount for their chicken tenders versus what you get when thighs, drumsticks, breasts, wings and entire chickens are offered at Jollibee, Popeyes, KFC and, although it’s not a chain, we’ve got one on the UWS, namely, Chirping Chicken. I guess Chick-Fil-A started it with only offering tenders, nuggets and sandwiches (made with fired or brolied chicken breasts); point being: the idea of ordering by the piece or ordering a half or whole chicken was never part of their plans.
That four-piece nugget meal and a drink will set you back $15.49 at the location in midtown. It’s like Chik-fil-a prices.
The only thing on that plate that doesn’t look like it came out of a bag at Dairy Queen is the cole slaw. Who eats this stuff?
Is that the only sauce they have? Even McDonald’s when they introduced chicken nuggets 35 years ago knew to have a bunch of different sauces, now this is the only one? It looks like Russian dressing.
