If you’ve been following the UWS fitness scene, you’ve probably heard of PWR NYC. The boutique strength training studio opened on West 82nd Street in 2025 and quickly became a neighborhood staple. Now, PWR has a second location on West 72nd Street, and it’s built around something that’s genuinely hard to find up here: small group training done right.
Perfect score. See reviews here.
PWR is hosting an open house this Saturday, May 2 from 9am-12pm. Come by to meet some of the trainers, talk to the founder, and see the space!
Small group training at PWR is the most coached experience the studio offers outside of one-on-one personal training. You train in a group of four with a dedicated PWR trainer who programs your sessions, tracks your progress, and coaches you the way a personal trainer does. Because the group never exceeds four people, the attention never stops being personal. You can join an existing group or bring three friends and train together!
Each session is programmed with intention, and your trainer tracks your weights and progress every step of the way.
Current small group training slots are being exclusively offered at 143 W 72nd Street. Sessions are at 6pm and 7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7am and 9am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9am on Fridays. Additional time slots are being added, so if none of those work for you, reach out and PWR will do their best to accommodate. PWR also runs group classes at both locations on Saturdays at 9am and 10am.
A first drop-in is $75 as a one-time introductory rate. After that, single sessions are $95, or you can buy in with a 4-pack at $370, an 8-pack at $720, or a 12-pack at $1,070. Packs don’t require booking all sessions up front.
Small group is new, but personal training is what PWR was built on. One-on-one coaching is still at the core of everything the studio does and is available at both locations. The Foundation Pack is the best way to get started: three sessions to learn how you move, lock in your form, and build a plan around you, with the option to roll into small group training after. Three sessions, $475.
PWR NYC founder Carolyn Osborne grew up on the Upper West Side and has spent her career building the kind of gym she always wanted to train in: serious about results, but genuinely welcoming. The West 72nd Street location is the next step in that vision, and the small group format is at the center of it.
“I wanted to build something where people feel like they belong,” Osborne says. “Small group training does that. You show up for yourself, but you also show up for each other.”
