The NYPD has put out on alert for three suspects wanted in connection to an assault against a police officer on Friday.
The incident happened at approximately 4:05 p.m. near 90th and West Drive in Central Park.
An on-duty copy riding a marked police scooter was attempting to escort the three suspects out of the park, as they were riding their motorcycles there illegally.
The police officer was then struck by one of the motorcycles, causing him to fall and inure himself.

They fled on their bikes in an unknown direction and the police officer was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The police report describes the first suspect as a male with medium complexion and a medium build. He was riding a red motorcycle.
The second and third suspects are described as “males [with] medium complexion[s] and medium build[s].”

When you disregard all common sense in a city with a posted speed limit, but don’t mandate ALL vehicles that are able to exceed that limit be registered and licensed so they are clearly identifiable, these are the types of things you open yourself to. Time has long passed where we should start making the city safer for all residents rather than incessantly worrying about whose feelings we hurt and start addressing whose palms are getting greased by various lobbies.

This is what the NYPD gets for only barely enforcing motorcycle laws.
Of course it’s a stupid idea to assault a police officer, but these jerks know they have a real chance of getting away with it, and getting away in general.
Most of these motorcycles are off road enduro motorcycles and CAN’T be registered for the street. The NYPD has a hard time cracking down on them because they just race off going down one way streets or on sidewalks.
What they have been doing is sending out teams to seize parked unregistered motorcycles at gas stations or parking garages.

On frequent Saturday nights, groups of wild, souped up, unmuffled ultra jacked ATV’s/Quad bikes rev up and take off UP and DOWN West 91st Street, coming, I believe, from the garage at around 140 West 91st adjacent to Wise Towers, a NYCHA project building.
Cops come fairly quickly but even so, the bikes look/sound to head East (the wrong way) towards the park on 91st Street and they leave the cops spinning circles around the block between Amsterdam and Columbus, west 91st and west 92nd. Like other grumpy old men, I wish they’d catch them OR I wish the bikers would give me a ride!
