Police Hunt Three Suspects Behind Pair of Early-Morning Robberies Across the Upper West Side (UPDATED)

UPDATE, May 20, 2026: The NYPD has arrested one of the three suspects sought in connection with the early-morning robberies, though investigators continue to search for the other two.

Brandon Sargeant, a 23-year-old Harlem resident, was taken into custody at 11:25 a.m. on Monday, May 19, within the confines of the 5th Precinct in Lower Manhattan, according to police. He has been charged with two counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, and criminal possession of stolen property.

Police have not publicly identified the two remaining suspects or said whether arrests in their cases are expected to follow. Anyone with information is still being asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

The NYPD is asking the public for help identifying three men wanted in connection with two robberies that unfolded within roughly 40 minutes of each other in the early hours of Friday, May 1, both on the Upper West Side. The first ended with the suspects fleeing empty-handed. The second did not.

The earlier incident took place at approximately 1:43 a.m. near West 64th Street and Central Park West, where a 39-year-old man was walking when three individuals approached him. One of the suspects grabbed the man’s arm, pulled up his sleeve, and demanded to see his watch, according to the NYPD. The victim managed to yank his arm away before the trio could take anything, and the three fled on foot northbound on Central Park West. No injuries were reported.

Roughly 37 minutes later, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was riding her e-bike near West 104th Street and Manhattan Avenue when the three suspects approached her. This time, police say, the men displayed firearms. One removed the victim’s bag, which contained approximately $400 in cash, several credit cards, and identification, then took her cellphone, keys, and phone charger from her jacket and pants pockets. One of the suspects fled on her e-bike. The other two ran south on Manhattan Avenue toward West 100th Street. The woman sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.

Police have released images of the three individuals. Investigators have not publicly said whether they believe the same crew is responsible for additional incidents beyond those described above.
