Police are asking the public to take a closer look at newly released images tied to a violent encounter inside one of the neighborhood’s busiest transit hubs — and they’re hoping someone recognizes the man at the center of it.

The incident unfolded the evening of Tuesday, May 26, around 7:10 p.m. inside the 59th Street–Columbus Circle station, where a 46-year-old man was waiting on the southbound “A” train platform. According to the NYPD, an unidentified man approached him and punched him repeatedly, knocking his cell phone to the ground. The attacker grabbed the phone and escaped on a northbound “A” train.The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene. Investigators have released images of the individual they’re trying to identify.
