Last Thursday evening, New Yorkers joined each other in a singalong to “New York, New York” from their apartment windows.
A few days later, the group behind the singalong – New York Sings Along – announced that they’d be repeating the event this week with a new song!
This Thursday (April 23rd), the song will be “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.
In addition to gathering thousands of New Yorkers from all corners of the city, the organizers are hoping to take the event to a national scale.
Regardless of where you are, you can follow the livestream on New York Sings Along’s Facebook page (the official event begins at 6:45pm, but the singing will start at 7:02pm).
You can also hear the event on WBAI (99.5 FM) just after 7pm.
New York Sings Along is a project of The Peace of Heart Choir, a collaborative community of singers which performs dozens of times each year in the city’s hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, and more.
