Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make their neighborhood a better place for everyone? Nominate them for Goddard Riverside’s Good Neighbor Awards, which honor volunteers who make an outstanding impact in their community.
Once the nominations are in (all must be submitted by May 13), a committee will meet to decide on the award recipients. The winners will then be invited to a celebratory event on June 18.
You can nominate community members from the Upper West Side, Harlem, East Harlem and Yorkville (on the Upper East Side). You can also nominate yourself, if that good neighbor happens to be you.
Last year’s honorees were:
- Emma Justus, for her commitment to helping families facing cancer.
- Melissa Elstein for her volunteer work with housing, education and environmental advocacy.
- Dorothy Reiss for her work with New York libraries and bookstores.
- Carolyn Breidenback for her longtime volunteer work with her local elementary school, PS 198.
- Wilma Lorraine Johnson for her volunteer work and community leadership, especially at the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center.
- Margarita Curet Osorio for her work representing the residents of Amsterdam Houses.
