No Contact Delivery To The Upper West Side

Last modified on April 26th, 2021

As NYC practices social distancing during the coronavirus panic, delivery services are following suit by offering no contact delivery. While this is a difficult time, we can be thankful for the UWS restaurants serving up and delivering delicious food in a safe and cautious manner.

Postmates was the first to announce offering this service.

Here are some Upper West Side restaurants you can order from through Postmates:

  • Sala Thai
  • Luke’s Lobster
  • Bluestone Lane
  • The Ribbon
  • Haru
  • Tacombi
  • RedFarm
  • Playa Betty’s

DoorDash also emailed the following statement on Saturday night:

“Beyond simply monitoring the situation, we are taking active measures to make sure the food that gets delivered to your home is safe and secure. In affected areas, we have begun distributing hand sanitizer and gloves to Dashers. In our app, we are testing enhanced drop-off options for customers and Dashers to more easily enable a no-contact delivery, which we’ll roll out in the coming days. Today, customers who prefer a no-contact delivery can make that request in the delivery instructions.”

Food safety is a top concern right now for restaurant employees and customers. Restaurants around the UWS have reassured customers they are taking sanitation seriously. For example, Sweetgreen sent the following statement:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=”16″]

“We want to let you know that your health and safety is our top priority. Our dedicated response team is closely monitoring guidelines regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and we are taking increased precautions by reinforcing the following health + hygiene protocols for all team members and restaurants:

  • Stringent hand-washing procedures for our team members
  • Rigorous food safety audits
  • Dedicated hospitality position responsible for cleaning communal surfaces
  • Installing hand sanitizer dispensers for our guests”

If you have decided not to eat out during this time, restaurants are asking their regular customers to consider buying gift certificates as it is extremely important to support your local businesses.

For those of you planning to use services like DoorDash, InstaCart or delivery from your local restaurants, please make sure to thank your delivery person. They are serving thousands of households right now and are the heroes for many. Please consider going above and beyond what you usually tip. Also, please consider asking for and using the no contact option to protect our community.
