At around 9 p.m. on Sunday, a man who appeared to be a food delivery driver, equipped with a bike and backpack, could be heard screaming before falling to the ground due to his wound. He lost significant blood before another man wrapped his wound to help stop the bleeding. Multiple police cars arrived before an ambulance arrived at 407 Amsterdam Ave near Insomnia Cookies.
“On 12/31/23 at 9:02pm in front of 407 Amsterdam Avenue a 28 year old male sustained a laceration from an unknown male suspect who fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to St Luke’s Hospital. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing,” the NYPD’s Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information spokesperson told ILTUWS in an emailed statement.

The New York City 911 account on X (formerly Twitter) posted about the incident at 9:15 p.m., adding the victim was expected to live.
“Confirmed assault w/ a knife, aided not likely. Suspect is a m/w, fled on W 79th St in a red vehicle,” reads the post.
One X user who was at the scene posted a photo of the man lying on the ground with significant blood loss visible and police gathered. “Was standing near the mom whose son helped stop the bleeding …hope he is okay,” reads the post.
It is not clear if there was any motive, or if the suspect had any prior engagement with the victim before the stabbing occurred.
“Suspect is a m/w”: Man or woman? Male, White?
Obviously male white.
Ohhh, the randomness of one’s life here on the UWS these days…
Red Car. 9:02PM. 123123. CCTV anyone?
The COPS on Dateline would nabbed this guy by 11PM same night.
Come on Mayor Adams!
Keep voting for the soft on crime politicians and we’ll all be victims at some point
Harriet,
Soft on the e-bike issue is likely the cause of this road rage event.
If the driver of the red car is found, I’m sure he’ll be arrested and prosecuted.
Just thank the Lord he was stabbed and not shot! Gun control is working.
Thank the Lord he was stabbed and not shot????????
It is insane thinking like this that will destroy our community.
I wish he’d been hit by a passing butterfly, myself. “Ban Dangerous Butterflies” campaign seems to be working after long years of mayoral level (more city hall flutter?) lepidopterous study.
Stabbing, shooting, it’s all horrible. Criminals have to be incarcerated. The violence has to stop.
