Recently filed paperwork indicates that a new Starbucks will be opening at 159 Columbus Avenue, between 67th and 68th Streets (thanks to ‘Upper West Sider’ for the tip).
The document can be found here (check “Job Description” at the bottom).
Other documents which were previously brought to our attention – from the same tipster – also indicated that a Sweetgreen would be opening at the same address. So it seems like the space will be subdivided between Sweetgreen and Starbucks.

The two former tenants (which also split the space at 159 Columbus Avenue) were Unleashed By Petco and GNC. Unleashed By Petco closed in July 2020, and the GNC closed both this location and its store at 163 West 72nd Street this summer as well.

Whew! I was wondering when Starbucks would resolve its dilemma of not having a Starbucks every 4-5 blocks.
Interesting they’re opening a new space after they closed the store on Broadway and W93 St
That one was terrible, though.
They’ve also closed three locations over the past year on Broadway at 103d, 99th, and 94th near the Symphony Space.
The only one in the area is on Columbus and 100th. Way too far to walk to from where I am on Riverside and 100th!
Sbucks 86th and columbus is open for biz
Hey this is great news!!!! Due to the company policy change in 2018, now the homeless can have a bathroom to use. They should open more of these coffee shops!
“Following the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia Starbucks location in April, the company is now opening its doors—and bathrooms—to everyone, even those who aren’t buying coffee.”
