A new Upper West Side restaurant called The Grand Feast has just opened its doors at 854 Amsterdam Avenue, between 101st and 102nd streets (formerly home to Cafe Roma).
The new spot self-describes as American and European with “wine, cheese and more” on its Instagram page, @thegrandfeast_. We don’t see a website, but they sent over the menu and some photos:

In other food news, Kirsch Bakery and Kitchen has temporarily closed. This sign was spotted in the eatery’s window by @abbydunkin on Wednesday.
We’ve reached out to Kirsch for more details. We’ll provide an update if and when we learn more.
In even more food news, Nuts Factory opened at 2240 Broadway (West 80th Street) on Friday morning. Thanks to @fleker for the tip and photo.
Good luck to the Grand Feast- I hope they do well.
Their menu seems all over the place though. In my opinion, it’s tough to get a following taking this approach. Duck l’orange, guacamole, vegan gnocchi, and baby ribs?
Yes, and the menu really doesn’t align with the name either–neither especially grand nor a feast. More of a not-so-grand mishmash, maybe someone who is new to restaurants??? Could be good food, but they don’t come across with an impressive or cohesive offering, with a smeared shiny menu and a bottle of wine next to a plate of guacamole and a few chips–what sort of pairing is that?
Jack of all trades, master of none. I haven’t seen a single customer grace this spot, yet. Sadly, I don’t think they will last very long.
Exactly. I think a lack of focus and direction (and an ambiguous name) doesn’t bode well in this town.
RE: Kirsch. Can we bring back Popover?
The Grand Feast needs to hire a professional food photographer. That food looks unappealing.
I had the exact same thought!
I’ve eaten there 3 times, and while I too wondered how such a super wide range of dishes could be good, we enjoyed each meal so far. . We’ve had the duck l’orange, the salmon and the lamburger— all excellent. I liked the wine options too. I hope this family run business will flourish here. They are doing more delivery than in-house seating so far but the ratio of delivery to table customers is slowly shifting to in-house service. Which means you can still get a table for now (late October, ‘23).
We decided to try The Grand Feast because I was in the mood for duck and saw duck a l’orange on the menu as well as strip steak for my husband. Both excellent! Really well prepared with delicious sides such as roasted pureed squash, string beans and mushrooms, potatoes. I hope this place makes it so I don’t have to spend twice the amount at Cafe du Soleil.
