In the heat of summer, Playa Bowls is coming to the Upper West Side — again.
In an Instagram message to ILTUWS, a representative from the juice and smoothie bowl eatery confirmed that the new location at 105 West 72nd Street (between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues) will be opening on August 5 at 11 a.m. It will be replacing the ClearMD which previously occupied the space.

In celebration of the grand opening, Playa Bowls will offer its first 100 customers a free bowl or custom Playa Tote Bag.
Playa Bowls’ first UWS location opened in March 2022 at 2327 Broadway, between 84th and 85th streets. There is also a Playa Bowls near Columbia University at 2841 Broadway at 110th Street, which opened in March .
In September of 2022, the shop made its Upper East Side debut at 1471 Second Ave (between 76th and 77th streets). The location, previously home to Copper Kettle Kitchen, marked Playa Bowl’s 156th in the country, and its eleventh in NYC.
Playa Bowls was founded by Jersey Shore natives and longtime surfers Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor. The trendy smoothie joint, which claims to be “New Jersey’s original acai shop,” has expanded to over 170 locations nationwide. The menu offers pitaya and acai bowls with a variety of toppings (like fresh fruit, seeds, nuts, granola, dried berries, and nut butters), cold brew coffee, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, oatmeal bowls, and poke bowls.
