Signage for The Cutting District is up at 265 Columbus Avenue (between 72nd and 73rd streets). “With skilled barbers and premium services, we deliver sharp cuts, fresh fades, and classic shaves,” reads the barbershop’s Facebook page. The new business will be opening in the space between J & E Hair Salon and 72nd Eatery, which was previously occupied by a dry cleaner.

Sugared and Bronzed has opened its doors at 495 Columbus Avenue (at 84th Street). The tanning salon offers “all-natural sugaring [for hair removal] and custom airbrush tanning,” with monthly memberships ranging from $15 to $119. The company was launched in 2010 and has 35 locations throughout the country.

Studio Pilates International has leased a space at 301 West 110th Street (between Manhattan Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard), @TradedNY reports. The franchise-model business “has 110+ locations open across Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and China,” according to the company’s website. The business specializes in reformer pilates and offers a long list of courses for both instructors and gym-goers.

A kosher breakfast and lunch spot called LeLis Cafe recently opened its doors within the lobby of the Arthouse Hotel at 222 West 77th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue). The menu includes a variety of croissants and sandwiches (which the eatery showcases on its Instagram feed) along with bagels and hot and iced beverages. Sandwiches range in price from $11.95 to $16.95 and include egg salad, tomato mozzarella, smoke salmon, avocado toast, tuna and grilled cheese.

Shah’s Halal Food, which we last wrote about here, is now open at 720 Amsterdam Avenue (at 95th Street). The new spot replaces Halal Guys, which closed in late January after operating at this location since 2014. “We are committed to serving humanely-treated meats and fresh vegetables which make up a selection of platters, gyros, burgers, salads, and vegan options,” states Shah’s website. “Shah’s signature seasonings and sauces are proprietary family recipes and separate us from other Halal brands. Our white sauce, the mascot of our brand, is a cult favorite amongst foodies and the American Halal community and is available for purchase in store.”
