Signage has been up at 661 Amsterdam since the summer of 2023 (Google Maps)
Six 60 One appears to be approaching its grand opening at 661 Amsterdam Avenue (between 92nd and 93rd streets). The kosher market has had signage up for a while, but they started posting teasers on Instagram about a week ago. “Everything kosher, under one roof,” reads one of the posts, with departments including a butcher, pizza, deli, fresh fish and sushi, Asian cuisine and more. The space was previously home to Seasons, which was also a kosher grocery store. Seasons closed in 2018.

Aves, a Chinese restaurant, recently opened at 102 West 86th Street (just west of Columbus Avenue). The space was home to La Mirabelle for 37 years until it closed in 2021. “We draw inspiration from the peacock—an enduring symbol of beauty, grace, and luxury in Chinese culture,” states the new restaurant’s website. “The name ‘Aves,’ meaning ‘birds,’ reflects our deep connection to this majestic creature,” which is apparent in the space’s interior design. I was looking forward to Max &Fluffy’s opening. But it looks too complicated to use it & impossible to find any information as to how much it costs on its website…so I will pass on ever using it.
Their FAQ talks about their “security team” as if it’s some hostile third party they have no control over. Sounds like Squid Games.

Here’s a quote from the Terms of Service online about what you should if you’re assaulted or harassed inside one of their sites. Basically they don’t really, report it to the police:
Reporting misconduct: If you believe that any person associated with Maxx & Fluffy’s, any person in a Maxx & Fluffy’s Space that you interact with, whether online or in person, is acting or has acted inappropriately, including but not limited to, anyone who (i) engages in offensive, violent or sexually inappropriate behavior; (ii) you suspect of stealing from you, or (iii) engages in any other disturbing conduct, you should immediately report such person to the appropriate authorities and then to Maxx & Fluffy’s with your police station and report number (if applicable), provided that your report will not obligate us to take any action beyond that required by law, if any, or cause us to incur any liability.
Just what we need. A dog washing laundromat with no employees onsite. What could go wrong?
I really can’t understand some of the comments here. The ‘security team’ is simply there to ensure customers’ safety and privacy, not some outside force they can’t control. The locking mechanisms are for added security, and the Terms of Service are just standard practice. Honestly, I’ve used similar self-serve dog washes before, and the whole point is the freedom and independence—you don’t have to wait around for staff. Looking forward to trying it out when it opens!
