Nathan Lane, hot off making television history for landing his seventh Emmy nomination for his role as Teddy Ditmas in Only Murders in the Building — the Hulu show which predominantly takes place on the Upper West Side — is moving to the neighborhood, having just purchased a $4 million co-op at the Dorilton on West 71st Street and Broadway, The Real Deal was first to report.

In June 2021, the Wall Street Journal reported that Lane had put his Tribeca triplex condo at 35 N. Moore St. on the market for $4.65 million. The six-time Tony Award winning actor had lived downtown for more than two decades, having relocated from Los Angeles in 1999. Eight months after his listing went up, it sold for $4.27 million, the New York Post reported.

Joining Nathan Lane in his new Upper West Side digs is his husband, writer and actor Devlin Elliott. The two paid $4.1 million for their unit at the Dorilton, a Beaux-Arts building constructed in 1902. Designed by Janes & Leo, the building is known for its limestone and brick exterior with a three-story copper and slate mansard roof. The residence has long been a favorite for artists, opera singers and musicians for its soundproof construction. In 1974, the Dorilton was designated a New York City Landmark.

According to the listing description, Lane and Elliott’s new pad boasts two bedrooms and a stately library which can be converted into a third bedroom. There’s a marble bathroom, a corner living room with a fireplace, and Juliet balconies with nearly floor-to-ceiling windows. The ceilings are 10 feet high and the formal dining room also showcases a fireplace with a mantel, beamed ceilings and a bay window. Don’t forget the roof terrace and lower floor patio, too.

The Dorilton is just 15 blocks south of where Lane’s Only Murders character (Teddy Ditmas) lives; a building fictionally referred to as The Arconia (The Belnord in real life).

Fun fact: Despite Nathan Lane’s record-setting seventh nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, the legendary actor, revered for his role as Max Bialystock in The Producers on Broadway, has yet to win an Emmy.

Only Murders in The Building has received 17 Emmy nominations this year. The series just got renewed for its third season.
