Until January 9, you can drop off your Christmas tree at various NYC park locations through “Mulchfest.” Parks departments will turn your trees into mulch which will be used for their trees and gardens.
At “chipping” locations, participants are invited to bring their own bags so they can take home some of their own mulch (on Saturday from 10am – 2pm).Drop off your Christmas tree @ 83rd Street in Riverside Park (or anywhere along Riverside Drive!) any time before January 9.
It will be ‘treecycled’ and used as mulch for gardens throughout the Park! @iLoveTheUWS @westsiderag @NYC_Patch @galeabrewer https://t.co/v5aQRBc6Aj

There are three Mulchfest locations on the Upper West Side:
- West 65th Street and Central Park West (drop off only)
- West 81st Street and Central Park West, at the bridle path (chipping location)
- West 83rd Street and Riverside Drive (chipping location)
Last year, over 50,000 trees were recycled, a number the Parks Department hopes to beat in 2021.
Those bringing in their trees must remove all lights, ornaments, and netting beforehand. Learn more about Mulchfest here.
