Cafe Aroma, an eatery with two Midtown locations, will be opening its doors at 1875 Broadway (at 62nd Street) on Friday, taking over part of the TD Bank space.
It was first announced that they had leased the space back in September by @TradedNY.

According to the real estate outlet, the landlord of the 2,354 square foot space was asking $300 per foot, which would make the annual rent $706,200 (and the monthly rent $58,850) – though it’s unclear whether Cafe Aroma is paying that much.

A representative from Cafe Aroma confirmed that they have no connection to the Aroma Cafe which closed its 72nd Street location in 2018.
Cafe Aroma’s menu features an extensive list of hot and iced teas and coffees; egg platters and griddle specialties (pancakes, French toast, waffles); breakfast sandwiches, bagels, muffins and assorted pastries; and acai and pitaya bowls.
Cafe Aroma’s other locations can be found at 502 Ninth Avenue (38th Street) and 839 Seventh Avenue (54th Street), the latter of which just had its grand opening in September.

(but probably no cinnamon buns with raisins and gloppy icing, which, as far as I can tell, no longer exist anywhere. if someone knows a source, please share)

Auntie Anne’s on 8th Ave about 20 yards north of 42nd Street on the east side of 8th.
Still serves both regular and half-size cinnamon buns (maybe no raisins but definitely pecans or walnuts) but definitely has decadent “gloppy, icing.” Since it’s a chain, many airports have an Auntie Annes’ and the cinnamon buns are just as good at those stores. Good luck.
sadly, no raisins there. lots of gloppily iced cinnamon rolls in the wild, but somehow no longer with raisins. maybe they’re too expensive?
Y’know, I also like raisins but I am finding (more and more recently) that there are all these people who like cinnamon bread, cinnamon rolls and pastries but sans the raisins.
Don’t know if they’ve become the new “peanut” or wheat flour but there’s suddenly this great antipathy towards raisins. I’ll take Auntie Anne’s in lieu of nothing else!
Has Aroma fixed the coffee/espresso yet?
Or is it still that burnt stuff they were selling 15 years ago?
Another coffee shop? I make my own coffee drinks and they taste better than any of these outfits selling for $6 a small cup. And ridiculous $5 cookies and $8 flour-based sweets.
What happened to us to tolerate such inflationary offerings and menus? And, of course, additional tipping for someone to hand you over your inflated goods. What galoot, landlubber, doggone namby-pamby varmint lily-livered tarnation rackin’-frackin’, rassa’-frassin’ consumers we’ve become.
Operating a cafe or restaurant in NYC is unbelievably expensive and has gotten even more so as NYC raised the minimum wage along with annual huge real estate tax increases that restaurants have to pay as part of their lease. Insurance, Water & Sewer, Gas, Fees, Fines and Permits have made it extremely difficult for cafes to turn a profit. That’s why they have to charge $5 a cookie etc.
Blame NYC and NY State for their super unfriendly taxes and onerous business regulation that continues to hurt small business with no change on the horizon.
If your priority is cheap, sugary carbs, you will be delighted to learn that the rest of the country is cheaper and swimming in them.
