Man Kidnapped, Slashed and Robbed After Trying to Sell Sneakers Near Columbus Circle

A man was forced into an SUV, slashed in the face and robbed after showing up to sell sneakers near Columbus Circle last week, police said.

The 37-year-old victim was waiting in front of 330 West 58th Street on Thursday, April 2 around 9:50 p.m. to sell a pair of sneakers valued at roughly $2,300 when multiple people pulled up in a white Dodge Durango and a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to the NYPD.

A physical altercation broke out before the group forced the victim into the Durango, where he was punched and kicked repeatedly and slashed multiple times in the face with a sharp object, police said.

The attackers took the victim’s wallet and other property before forcing him out of the vehicle near West 54th Street and Sixth Avenue. Both SUVs then fled eastbound on 54th Street.

EMS transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

Police are now searching for six individuals in connection with the robbery — four males described as having dark complexions, one male with a light complexion and one female with a light complexion.
