Summer on the Hudson, which the Riverside Park Conservancy operates in partnership with NYC Parks, will begin on May 1 and run through October, with more than 300 free events taking place along the river between 59th and 181st streets.
On Pier I at West 70th Street, some returning favorites will include the Silent Discos, Irish Dance Festival, FlyNYC (kite-flying), the West Side County Fair, trivia and game nights, sun and star gazing, lots of live music and outdoor film screenings.

Some other interesting programs around the neighborhood will include drawing sessions at the 91st Street Garden; a Grow NYC Stop ‘N’ Swap event at the West 102nd Street Field House; forest bathing, birding walks and horticultural tours; storytelling and music for kids; and fitness classes including yoga, parkour, tai chi and pilates.
The Riverside Park Conservancy is also transforming its traditional annual spring benefit into a “launch party” for Summer on the Hudson on June 5 in Sakura Park. “the new ticketed event will feature local artists and performers while raising important funds for the Conservancy’s public programming and landscape stewardship operations,” according to a press release. The summer-long series of events, which the Riverside Park Conservancy operates in partnership with NYC Parks, is also expanding its uptown offerings – with movie screenings at the Hudson River waterfront at 145th Street each Thursday in August and a Black Birders Week birding walk, hosted in partnership with NYC Audubon.
“I have never been more excited for summer in Uptown Manhattan,” said Council Member Shaun Abreu. “The Conservancy has outdone themselves again with this jam-packed calendar of free, world-class programming along the Hudson River. This is New York City at its very best.”
