La Bomboniera, an Italian espresso and wine bar that’s become a popular destination on the Upper East Side, has expanded across the park. The café’s second location is now open at 203 West 82nd Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam), in the space that was previously home to Fang Cleaners and a palm reading business.

Owners Artie and Nela Hidric opened the original La Bomboniera at 1378 Lexington Avenue (corner of East 91st Street) at the end of 2023, quickly earning a loyal following for its cozy, antique-filled atmosphere and authentic Italian offerings. The name “La Bomboniera” translates to “a box of sweets”—a fitting nod to its intimate charm and pastry-driven menu. The UES location currently has a 4.8-star rating on Google and a 4.4 on Yelp, with reviewers praising both the quality of the drinks and the warmth of the space.
Guests can expect an assortment of classic Italian pastries such as cornetti, bombolini, biscotti, sfogliatelle, and torta, alongside light paninis and a selection of Italian wines and prosecco cocktails. Coffee options include the full range of espresso-based drinks, as well as a particularly popular hot chocolate.
