Perlman and his wife, fellow musician Toby Perlman, raised their five children at the home, which had been on and off the market since 2022, originally asking $17.5 million. The sale was first reported by The New York Post.

The 20′ wide townhouse built in 1901 spans about 8,000 square feet and comes with five to six bedrooms, five full bathrooms, four powder rooms and six fireplaces. It also features almost 1,500 square feet of private outdoor space across a roof deck, garden, and landscaped terrace.

The townhouse’s most noteworthy feature is its full spa level, which comes with an indoor swimming pool and sauna. The main floor includes a large, eat-in chef’s kitchen, a skylit dining room with garden access, and a wood-paneled library. On the parlor level, 12-foot ceilings frame a gracious living area measuring more than 36 feet in length.

The Perlmans, founders of the Perlman Music Program for young string musicians, are longtime fixtures of the classical music world. Itzhak Perlman, an Israeli-American, is a 16-time Grammy winner and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. His work includes the celebrated violin solos in John Williams’ score for Schindler’s List.

Though the couple cherished their time on the Upper West Side, they are now empty-nesters. “It’s time for the next family to build their dreams here,” friends told the Post.

The buyers are reportedly a family from Asia, represented by Victor Hsu and Jaime Richichi of Sotheby’s International Realty. The listing agents were Richard Steinberg, Alexander Mignogna, and Charles Beda of Compass. View the full listing here.
