Huge Group Walks on Central Park’s Frozen Lake

People just can’t seem to stay off the ice.

Just about a week after a teenager fell into Central Park’s Pond, dozens of park-goers decided to walk on the frozen Lake beneath Bow Bridge on Sunday, NBC New York reports.

NBC reports that most of the ice-walkers were taking photos, and some even had children with them.

Police eventually used speakerphones to tell them to get off the ice.

There are large red signs at both the Pond and Lake, warning people about the thin ice, but some have only seen these warnings as suggestions.

Storm Team 4’s Matt Brickman noted how it’s especially dangerous to be walking on ice when the temperatures are above freezing, which they were on Sunday.

In other ice-related-news, the City has reversed its decision to close both Wollman and Lasker Rinks, which will now stay open for the remainder of the season.
