Last modified on August 7th, 2018

As we are in the thick of the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, you may want to take a breath and admire some of the dazzling displays of lights, trees, and decorations. Here are three splendid stops to check out the holiday displays on the Upper West Side!

“Under The Stars” at Time Warner Center

On display until January 3, 2012

Time Warner Center not only offers you numerous upscale stores where you can search for gifts, but it also provides a magnificent holiday display for you to enjoy. As you enter the Great Room on the ground floor, stop and marvel at the twelve stunning stars hanging from above. Watch the beautiful colored lights coordinate with the holiday music as they illuminate the 14-foot stars. This demonstration should put any stressed shopper in the joyous spirit of the season.

Lincoln Center Holiday Tree

On display through January 2013

Another lovely Upper West Side location for holiday displays is Lincoln Center. The gorgeous tree was lit at Lincoln Center’s annual Winter’s Eve celebration on November 26th and will be on display through January 2013. This year, the Lincoln Center Holiday Tree features glittery glass ornaments by Wendy Addison and Tinsel Trading with the American Folk Art Museum.

Origami Holiday Tree at The Museum of Natural History

On display through January 6, 2012

American Museum of Natural History

Central Park West at 79th Street
Phone: 212-769-5100
Open daily from 10:00 am – 5:45 pm, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas

The tradition of the Origami Holiday Tree has been in New York for over thirty years. The theme of this year’s tree is groups of animals. You can get a good look at the artful creatures while also learning some of the lesser-known group names. Perhaps you’d like to admire the parliament of owls, the mob of kangaroos, or the smack of jellyfish? Volunteers from OrigamiUSA, who started working on the project in July, created all 500 origami animals adorning the tree. Come visit this amazing display through January 6, 2013, on the first floor of the museum in the Grand Gallery.

The bright lights of the season are all around us! You don’t have to go far to see some spectacular holiday displays. I hope you will get a chance to take a little time out and visit some of these beauties in the heart of the Upper West Side!
