Police confirm that an early morning armed robbery took place at an Upper West Side bodega on Monday. It happened a bit before 6 a.m. at 94 Star Deli, located at 714 Amsterdam Avenue (between 94th and 95th streets).
According to NYPD officials, the suspect–a male believed to be about 6′ tall–entered the store and approached a 27-year-old man (not an employee). He then displayed a firearm, demanded money, and ran south down Amsterdam Ave with the victim’s backpack.
According to police dispatch calls, the suspect was a Black male wearing black sneakers, a black hoodie with white stripes and black pants.
We called the phone number listed for the business but it was out of service.
