Born in 1927 in the town of Assisi – in central Italy’s Umbria region – L’Artigiano has partnered with Fiat to open a stand on the ground floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle (where a new Shake Shack will also be opening at some point). L’Artigiano officially began scooping on April 1 and will be at The Shops until June 30.

“Featuring premium raw ingredients predominantly sourced from Italy including locally procured fresh milk delivered to the factory daily and fresh fruit pulp, L’Artigiano’s devotion to the artistry of gelato shines in their traditional and innovative flavors,” states a press release sent to ILTUWS. According to the company’s website, their product is all natural and gluten-free.

L’Artigiano is selling its gelato, available in cups and cones, from a custom Fiat 500 painted in the signature company colors. Available flavors include Sicilian Pistachio, Mango, Vanilla, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Chocotella (chocolate and hazelnut).

Prices are as follows:

  • Small cup or cone is $8.50 and is one scoop
  • Medium cup or cone is $9.70 and is two scoops
  • Large cup or cone is $11.50 with three scoops

According to a press release, L’Artigiano is officially launching “across 12 retailers at over 400 locations in the New York City metro area” including D’Agostino, Kings Food Markets, Gristedes and Garden of Eden, “with the ultimate goal of expanding to nationwide availability.”

Hours at the Columbus Circle stand are Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
