The FDNY received a call reporting a fire at 33 West 63rd Street at 12:57 a.m. Crews found an active fire at the location, and the response grew quickly. By the time the operation wrapped, 21 units and 79 fire and EMS personnel had worked the scene.

Four people were transported to area hospitals, according to the FDNY. The department did not release any information on their conditions.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 1:27 a.m., roughly half an hour after the initial call came in. Fire marshals have been notified and are expected to look into what sparked the fire, which has not yet been determined.

Video from the scene circulated on the Citizen app overnight.

We’ve reached out to the American Red Cross of Greater New York to find out whether any displaced residents have contacted the organization for services, and will update this story as more information becomes available.
