Fun for the whole family: there’s something for everyone!
This Sunday and next (October 12 and 19), Riverside Park Conservancy’s Overlook Concerts will be taking place at the 116th Street Overlook, with each performance running from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The French Cookin’ Blues will perform on October 12, with student musicians from the Manhattan School of Music playing a range of traditional and contemporary jazz on Oct 19. The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will be celebrating “Diwali, A Festival of Lights,” from Monday, October 20 to Wednesday, October 22. Activities will include a light celebration, story times, a dance performance and workshop, a puppet show, henna tattoos and more. Here’s the event page (scroll down for it).
The second-ever Riverside Park Pup Halloween Parade is taking place on October 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the starting point at Dinosaur Playground at West 97th Street (view on map). The parade will head north to Ellington on the Park (at 105th).

Riverside Park Conservancy is also hosting a Halloween Pickleball Tournament & Fundraiser on Sunday, October 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the West 110th Street Pickleball Courts. “Celebrate the spooky season and help support the Riverside Park Pickleball Courts at this fun Halloween-themed competition!” the event page reads. There will also be “Halloween treats, family-fun games, and a costume contest.”Free concerts are taking place on the second floor of the Shops at Columbus Circle every Thursday this month (it started yesterday, sorry, we’re late). The series, “Sounds at the Circle,” features “talented performers across jazz, contemporary, and Latin sounds.” Here’s the full schedule.
Grand Bazaar NYC’s event on Sunday, October 26 (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the playground on 77th and Columbus, as always) is called the Spooky Spectacular Home Decor Bazaar, and the description doesn’t completely clarify what will set it apart from their typical markets, but there is a photo of people wearing costumes. The 69th Street Halloween celebration is also happening, and the city’s Trick-or-Streets initiative will be taking over several UWS locations.
