Extell Files Plans Disney ABC Campus UWS

Extell plans to bring two more residential buildings to the Upper West Side (Google Maps)

Plans have been filed to convert part of the Disney / ABC Upper West Side campus into residential developments with 81 total apartments, according to reports from PinusCO and Crain’s New York Business.

Extell Development purchased the buildings at 30 West 67th Street and 7 West 66th Street (between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue) from Silverstein Properties in 2022 for $931 million.

Department of Buildings filings reveal that Extell plans to raze the existing 14-story structure at 30 West 67th Street to make way for a nine-story, 76,000 square foot building, which is expected to include low-income housing among its fifty planned units.

The project at 7 West 66th Street won’t be as vast, with Extell planning to turn the existing structure into a seven-story, 14,000 square foot building that will also include low-income housing. DOB plans say the building will have thirty-one apartments.

The Disney campus is within a block of Extell’s new luxury residence at 50 West 66th Street, which became the tallest building on the UWS when it was completed earlier this year. A 52nd-floor apartment in the building sold in November for $54.5 million.

Extell has not yet filed plans for the rest of the current Disney campus at 147 and 149 Columbus and 47 and 77 West 66th Street.

Disney sold its campus to Silverstein Properties in 2018 for $980 million and has leased back the office space ever since. Construction on the media conglomerate’s new downtown office at 7 Hudson Square was completed earlier this year, but Disney won’t complete the move downtown until the summer of 2025, according to its website.
