An “Empty Shabbat Table” installation was set up on Friday to call attention to the 220 hostages being held captive by Hamas.
The installation was set up on the south side of 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, and it was modeled after the display set up outside the Tel Aviv Museum last week.
The tables – equipped with plates, silverware and challah – were placed in a long line stretching down the street. A poster of each missing hostage was taped to the back of each empty chair, and as some of the hostages are only infants, some tables also had sippy cups and suction plates.
The project was sponsored by Council Member Gale Brewer, B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue, Ansche Chesed Synagogue, the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew, and the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.
Another display was set up in Times Square, and major cities like Los Angeles and Geneva have had their own empty Shabbat tables. The tradition began in the 1960s during the movement to free Soviet Jews.
I hope they have really good and ample security; I fully expect the retards to attempt to defile this.

Or maybe you and i have different definitions of what that means. Maybe my definition covers strictly people who, among other things, think supporting the slaughter of babies is a “viewpoint” or “free speech.” Maybe your definition is stuck somewhere in the past and had something to do with pure chromosomal or cellular luck. The flyers you are set to take down, it’s fair to assume, are those showing innocents kidnapped by Hamas. Unless, as a public service, you are setting to take down the flyers on every one of the myriad subjects that are posted, your nakedness as an anti-Semite is fully exposed. I’ll add that among the hostages are Thais, Chinese, Sri Lankans, Tanzanians, and Filipinos. Are you ok with their being held hostage or is your cruelty limited to the Jews?

Why would anyone support monsters that behead, burn, rape, mutilate any human being?? Instead they supported and backed Hamas, an extreme terrorists group!! Those people should’ve left the country and when peace is reached they could return. Palestinians have become very angry and jealous of Israel because Israel worked very hard to provide a good life for its people. The Palestinians had the same opportunity to do so but their leaders and government is incapable of helping their own to a better life. Israel was willing to help them achieve success, but the Palestinians would have none of it!! Get a life and leave the Israelites alone!! Enough already!!
