The site of the former Collegiate School is officially becoming a condo, the New York Post first reported. The Collegiate School condo conversion has been in the works for about three years now. But it’s taken a new turn.
In 2015, West End Collegiate Church purchased 378 West End and 260-262 West 78th Street from the Collegiate School for $45 million, giving them a lease until they eventually relocated to 301 Freedom Place.
The church had their own plans to convert the buildings, but as of about a week ago, the site has been sold to Ken Horn of Alchemy Properties for $158 million.
Alchemy will be partnering with CookFox Architects to create the project.

Both 378 West End and 260-262 West 78th Street will be demolished. The church itself, located at 245 West 77th Street, will remain intact, as it is landmarked.
At 378 West End, a 19-story building will be constructed. At 260-262 West 78th, a connected 12-story building will rise.

The new development is estimated to house between 58 and 62 condo apartments, plus about 20,000 square feet of amenities.
Possible amenities may include a swimming pool, a children’s playroom, a squash court, and a gym
Construction is expected to begin some time this fall.
