The Center at West Park (CWP) is offering I Love The Upper West Side readers complimentary tickets to two upcoming CWP Film Center screenings on Monday, October 19 and Thursday, October 29. The October 19 program features the documentary No Accident, followed by a talkback, and on October 29 CWP will hold its annual Halloween silent film screening of The Man Who Laughs, with live organ accompaniment by Ben Model.
Readers can use code CWPUWS to access complimentary community tickets to both screenings. Screenings will take place in the Sanctuary at St. Paul & St. Andrew (263 W 86th Street). Anyone with questions or who needs help reserving tickets can contact info@centeratwestpark.org or call 212-997-4490.

On Monday, October 19 at 7pm, CWP will screen No Accident, a documentary chronicling the seminal civil rights trial that stemmed from the deadly “Unite the Right” white nationalist rally in 2017, giving a behind-the-scenes look at this groundbreaking case and efforts to stand up to hate.
The documentary will be followed by a talkback moderated by Dean of Columbia Journalism School & The New Yorker Staff Writer Jelani Cobb, with NY State Assembly candidate Eli Northrup, director Kristi Jacobson, and attorney Michael Bloch.

On Thursday, October 29 at 7pm, CWP will host a Halloween screening of the silent film The Man Who Laughs, with live accompaniment performed by Ben Model.
Disfigured by a king as a child, an 18th-century clown again becomes the pawn of royalty and star of the freak show of a travelling carnival.
Ben Model is one of the nation’s leading silent film accompanists, performing on both piano and theatre organ. Over the past 44 years, he has created and performed thousands of live scores for silent films at universities, museums, and historic theaters, and is one of the few exponents of this craft who is working at it full-time. Ben is a resident film accompanist at the Museum of Modern Art (NY) and at the Library of Congress’ Packard Campus Theatre, and he accompanies silents at classic film festivals around the USA and internationally.
