Boucherie Opens Friday in a Longtime Upper West Side Restaurant Space

Boucherie, the French brasserie and steakhouse, opens on the Upper West Side on Friday, November 6. The restaurant takes over a space that’s been home to several restaurants over the years.

That space is at 444 Columbus Avenue (between 81st and 82nd streets), where the restaurant has joined the former Milling Room and the Starbucks storefront next door into one room, as ILTUWS reported in June, when Community Board 7’s Business & Consumer Issues Committee approved its liquor license application. At the time, the restaurant was aiming to open October 1. The Milling Room was in the space for about a dozen years, and before that it was home to Main Street, Calle Ocho and Corvo Bianco. The space started out as the Palm Room of the Hotel Endicott, which was built between 1889 and 1891.

The restaurant has 255 seats. The front room is a brasserie with a pewter bar, and the Palm Room, under its arched glass roof, is a second dining room. There’s also a semi-private room inside the main dining room that holds up to 40 people.

The menu is mostly French brasserie dishes, such as escargots, steak tartare, moules frites and boeuf bourguignon, plus a seafood platter and dry-aged steaks. Cuts for sharing include a 48-ounce tomahawk for two, which costs $195 at dinner. A $33 prix fixe lunch is served weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Tuesdays there’s no corkage fee, with a limit of two 750ml bottles or one magnum per reservation.

Boucherie is owned by The Group Hospitality, which opened the first location in the West Village in 2016. The company also runs Boucherie Union Square, Petite Boucherie in Greenwich Village and La Grande Boucherie near Rockefeller Center, along with La Grande Boucherie locations in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Miami.

Boucherie Upper West Side will be open daily. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to midnight on weekends. Reservations are available on OpenTable, and the full menu is on the restaurant’s website.
