Bánh Vietnamese Shop House will soon be opening at 942 Amsterdam Avenue, between 106th and 107th Streets. We were first made aware of this upcoming eatery from an Instagram post by NYC food website eatingintranslation.com.
The former occupant at this address was La Toulousaine, which closed in 2019.
Bánh Vietnamese Shop House is scheduled to launch with a soft opening open on Friday, October 30, and will open to the public soon after, according to the restaurant’s recently created Instagram account.
Some items they’ve featured on their IG page include traditional Vietnamese rice cake wrapped in banana leaves, Vietnamese coffee which will be ground fresh daily, crispy pork belly and banana ice cream.

So excited.. can’t wait to check out this new place! Been dying for pho and a decent bah minh since our much beloved Saigutte (at 106th & Columbus) “temporarily closed” this past Covid19 spring. Anyone know if Saigutte will ever reopen again?
Yelp claims Saiguette is scheduled to reopen on Nov. 2. No idea how reliable that info is or where it comes from but sure hope it’s true. Miss it SO much.
Very excited to have another Vietnamese option in the neighborhood. Hopefully, Saiguette comes back this weekend. The more options, the better!
