There are no shortage of great brunch options on the Upper West Side, but a new, appropriately named establishment on Broadway gets straight to the point.
“Brunch” opened last week at 2201 Broadway (between 78th and 79th streets) and offers a wide-ranging menu featuring elevated versions of your classic breakfast and brunch staples. The space was formerly home to New Wave Cafe which closed in 2020 after more than 25 years, and counted celebrities and actors like L.A. Confidential’s Ron Rifkin and the late Eli Wallach among its frequent customers.

Brunch’s menu includes a smattering of omelets, sandwiches, soups, salads, light bites and “vittles off the griddle.” Highlights include the Herby (omelet with monterey, gruyere, parmesan, sea salt, chives and crunchy leek sticks), the Mendel (egg sandwich with thick slice pastrami, potato pancake and gruyere), Crunchy Loaded Caesar Salad (chicken, jalapeno bacon, parmesan, croutons and celery) and the Triple Decker Grilled Cheese (monterey, gruyere, cheddar, avocado and tomato on brioche). Dessert options are more traditional (cookies, muffins and more).
The full menu includes more than 40 items and says dishes are made “using time tested family recipes…Old school eats with meticulously sourced ingredients.”
The brightly lit restaurant spans two rooms: a bar area with counter seating and a dining room. Brunch does not currently serve alcohol and does not yet offer delivery, but an employee said both services are on the roadmap.
The restaurant is currently open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit Brunch’s website at BroadwayBrunch.com.
OMG How cute! and the Name… Catchy!!
Why name something that suggests limited offerings?
Because that’s what they offer?
It’s about time it opened. They’ve had signage up saying “Established 2022” for 2 years.
That’s cuz they were out to lunch.
So for our grand opening we shall announce that we are nothing special?
