A New Off-Broadway Musical Premiering Right on the Upper West Side

A major new Off-Broadway musical revue is about to debut steps from Lincoln Center, bringing a celebrated songwriting duo back to the stage with their first new revue in nearly four decades.

About Time, the new musical by Academy Award and Grammy Award winner David Shire and Tony Award winner Richard Maltby, Jr., will premiere at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater (10 West 64th Street) for a limited five-week engagement. Performances begin Friday, February 27, with an official opening night set for Sunday, March 8.

Directed by Maltby, the production stars Allyson Kaye Daniel, Darius de Haas, Daniel Jenkins, Eddie Korbich, Sally Wilfert, and Lynne Wintersteller. The show marks the long-awaited return of Maltby & Shire to the musical revue format, completing a quietly influential trilogy that includes their earlier works Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer Than Ever.

Best known for sharp wit and emotional precision, Maltby & Shire have built a reputation as singular voices in American musical theater. Their revues are designed as intimate experiences, allowing songs to connect directly with audiences and reflect the rhythms of contemporary life.

About Time focuses squarely on the present. “This show feels very much of the moment for us,” Maltby & Shire said in a statement. “We weren’t interested in looking back so much as looking around—at the lives people are actually living right now. About Time is about staying curious, staying connected, and finding the humor and grace in where you are, rather than where you thought you’d be.”

The production features choreography and musical staging by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, music direction by Deniz Cordell, scenic consultation by James Morgan, costume design by Tracy Christensen, and lighting design by Mitchell Fenton. Ethan Paulini and Nicole Powell serve as understudies, with Hethyr (Red) Verhoef as production stage manager.

General tickets are on sale now, and theatergoers can purchase seats here.

For Upper West Siders looking to catch a brand-new Off-Broadway premiere close to home, About Time offers a rare chance to see a legendary creative team unveil their latest work in an intimate neighborhood venue.
